Newsmap
Newsmap is an application that visually reflects the constantly changing landscape of the Google News news aggregator. A treemap visualization algorithm helps display the enormous amount of information gathered by the aggregator. Treemaps are traditionally space-constrained visualizations of information. Newsmap's objective takes that goal a step further and provides a tool to divide information into quickly recognizable bands which, when presented together, reveal underlying patterns in news reporting across cultures and within news segments in constant change around the globe.Newsmap does not pretend to replace the googlenews aggregator. Its objective is to simply demonstrate visually the relationships between data and the unseen patterns in news media. It is not thought to display an unbiased view of the news; on the contrary, it is thought to ironically accentuate the bias of it.

music recommendation sites
The three best music recommendation sites that I know of are:
http://pandora.com/This database is prepared by musicians and musical academics. This site will play music for you, ask you to rank or rate it, then plays recommendations.
http://www.liveplasma.com/- This is based on what CDs people buy together on Amazon.com. In other words, if people buy Madonna CDs along with Christina Aguilera CDs, then those names will appear together.

http://last.fm
Click on Music, and type in the name of an artist, such as Madonna:
http://www.last.fm/music/Madonna
Click on the "Similar" tab, and you will see a list of artists that people listen to most, who also listen to say, Madonna:

Enjoy!

The site is password protected for privacy, and is only available to memebrs of the group. This technology is useful in addtion to blogs, and not as a substitute for a blog.

Valparaíso
Valparaíso is arguably the most important Chilean seaport and cultural center. It is located in central Chile, in the Valparaíso Region and hosts the National Congress. Built upon dozens of steep hillsides overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Valparaíso boasts a labyrinth of streets and alleyways and embodies a rich architectural and cultural legacy. Valparaíso is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is often considered to be one of Latin America's most interesting urban areas.
